Itinerary - Southern Red Sea St. Johns Islands

Dive the Remote and Untouched Dive Sites on the Sudanese Border including St. Johns and Elphinstone!

Dates: 23 September - 2 October 2010

• 6 Nights on a Premium Class Luxury Liveaboard (Unlimited Diving)
• 2 Days, 1 Nights Accommodation - 4 Star Hotel in Marsa Alam (Bed & Breakfast)
• Optional Extension in Cairo to view the Pyramids, Sphinx & Egyptian Museum.

The Tour Package includes the following:

• Return International Flights from Johannesburg to Cairo. 
• Return Domestic Flights from Cairo to Hurghada 
• Return Transfers from Hurghada to Marsa Alam
• All transfers and transportation scheduled in Egypt.

(Based on flight availability a flight from Cairo to Marsa Alam will be substituted for the land transfers)

Optional Extension in Cairo:

Spend 2 days in Cairo and the Pyramids, Sphinx, Egyptian Museum & Khan-el-Khalili Bazaar, including transportation and guide.   A Nile Dinner Cruise can also be arranged.

Optional Nile Cruise and Cairo Day Tour:

• 5 Day / 4 Night Cruise on a 5* vessel along the river Nile from Luxor to Aswan
• All meals and sightseeing on Nile Cruise
• 1 Day use room in 5 star hotel in Cairo

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Thursday, 23^rd September

Check in at 18h00 at Johannesburg International airport for flight to Cairo. Flight departs Johannesburg at 21h45. Flying time is approximately 8 hours. Dinner and breakfast is served on board the plane.

Day 2: Friday, 24^th September

Arrive in Cairo airport at 06h30, met and assisted through customs and transfer to catch flight to Hurghada. Flight departs at 09h00 and arrives in Hurghada at 10h00. Met at Hurghada airport on arrival and transferred directly to the Marsa Alam (4 hour drive) . Check into Liveaboard and once they have received clearance from Port Control the Liveaboard will commence the diving safari.

Day 3 –7: Saturday, 25^th September – Wednesday, 29^th September

6 Nights on board a premium class luxury live-aboard. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are served daily and tea, coffee, soft drinks and bottled water are freely available on board.

DIVING:
St. JohnsNational Park

St. Johns National Park is situated in the Deep South on the border of Sudan. It is a remote spectacular virgin wilderness where reefs rise up from an enormous undersea plateau, sheer walls plunge away sharply teaming with shoals of fish and masses of soft corals. Sharks are commonly encountered including hammerheads, threshers and oceanic white tips.

Elphinstone

Elphinstone is a finger like reef that extends 300m in length and is one of the best dive sites in the south. Vertical walls plunge vertically on both sides to more than 100m and this site is well known for is beautiful corals and schools of fish. Game fish and occasional oceanic white tip sharks and hammerheads are seen here.

Day 8: Thursday, 30^th September

2 morning dives, lunch and return to port at 3pm. Check out of Liveaboard and transfer to a 4* hotel in Marsa Alam. Overnight at the hotel on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 9: Friday, 1^st October

Check out of hotel after breakfast and transfer to Hurghada. Check in for flight to Cairo in the afternoon. On arrival in Cairo, remain in transit and check in for flight to Johannesburg.

Day 10: Saturday, 2^nd October

Flight to Johannesburg departing Cairo at 02h40. Arrival time in Johannesburg approximately 09h40.
